I actually can’t believe that the 27th Ealing Beer Festival was my first experience of this amazing event! I volunteered during set up, worked admissions on the opening night and also just grabbed some friends and thoroughly enjoyed it as a punter on Saturday afternoon. Especially the Beer & Cheese Tasting hosted by the very lovely and knowledgeable Christine Cryne.
As ever, it was a huge success with over 10,000 visitors descending on Walpole Park to sample one of the 374 beers on offer. Highlights beer wise for me include finally trying some beer from Windsor & Eton Brewery, the very yummy collaboration ale from Kew Brewery & Park Brewery (a white IPA), discovering XT Brewing Co and tasting the brews from old favourites, Weird Beard and Dark Star.
Other highlights were catching up with my fellow Crafty Beer Girls. A networking group and monthly catch up for women working in and simply appreciating craft beer. Spending time with these formidable women is always pure joy and this month we even had some special non-girl guests from Weird Beard Brew Co. Bonus!
Discovering that blue cheese paired with the right ale actually makes this stinker bearable for me was a revelation! I am now a convert but only with the right beer of course!
Finally, it was great seeing for myself the diverse range of people enjoying the beers; families, friends, men, women, young, old, brexiters and remainers all together! There really was a festival vibe present and made for a great atmosphere. I met plenty of people who were interested in hearing about The Dodo Micropub’s progress (I’m still awaiting any planning news, due around 15th July and unfortunately my premise licence application is going to a public hearing). I thank you all for your support and kind words of encouragement! You will all be most welcome when I do finally open my doors and you have all reminded me why I started this business venture in the first place!! Much love to you fabulous people!
