Pints & Perfect Moments!
So here’s a new little something to document the gripes, the good and the magic of The Dodo Micropub.
Why I hear you ask? Well, because we bang on about being “all about craft beer and community” but if you’ve not experienced The Dodo Micropub first hand then you probably think I’m spinning you some marketing tag line bullsh*t!
I am not! So many warm, hilarious, uplifting, simple little moments of human connection happen behind our powder blue door and 3 years of me thinking “wow, I should start documenting this”, I’m bloody well doing it! Finally!!
So without further ado, lets dive in to our new monthly(ish) update which’ll follow the format of 3 self explanatory / mildly beer pun related headers -
Vent The Cask
Start with a vent because, fun fact, the one time I full on vented on my blog proved to be a very popular discussion point!
We showcase an ever rotating line up of beer on our menu. These beers vary in style weekly. Should you come across a beer that isn’t quite to your taste, DO NOT DECLARE YOUR OPINION TO EVERYONE WALKING THROUGH THE DOOR! Taste is subjective - fact! Just because you didn’t like the best bitter, doesn’t mean that it’s a bad beer - fact! Please do not slander a beer and unnecessarily deter a whole micropub away from it just because it’s not for you.
Tapped It, Tasted It
Rather embarrassingly, last month’s best selling beer was The Dodo, our collaboration beer with Weird Beard that we first brewed in 2018! I’m amazed casks still go in less than 24 hours. It’s the closest we’ll ever get to having a house beer and yet there are still people who haven’t tried this beer on cask!!
On cask, this beer shines!! All the flavours come out to play, it’s an oatmeal double dry hopped pale ale at a Hanwell Massive session-able 4.6%. It reminds me of a glorious sunny day, the oatmeal provides body and a berry undertone while the all american hops gives you peachy, gentle juiciness.
Pints & Perfect Moments!
Yes it is just beer to some people but to us it is so much more! The simple pleasure of a conversation over a beer is a wonderful, warming thing.
So, Lucas, aged 3/4 was in having a drink with his Dad. Also in at the same time was an older gentleman with a big white beard enjoying a cider or two with a friend…
Lucas believed he was in the presence of the great Santa Claus himself who was off duty and getting some much needed down time following a busy festive period. Of course off duty Santa would be in Hanwell right?
This kind bearded gentleman fully went along with the story! He chatted to Lucas about how he was indeed Santa enjoying his break. He even showed Lucas a photo of himself dressed in his full Santa gear!
Needless to say, Lucas’s night WAS MADE! He left happy, Dad left amused and Team Dodo were left with a warm glow in their hearts!
